In no way could I have gotten every “movie star or famous musician” that is stoked on skateboarding. The list is too great to truly cover in its entirety. But for the most part here are 10 of the most notable. Feel free to add in your knowledge of skateboarding enthusiasts in the film or music industry.
10. Tony Hawk

Yes we all know Tony Hawk has been a skateboarder the entire way through but with all honesty the name “TONY HAWK” is more widely known than half the actors in existence. He is a movie star and celebrity in that fact alone. The guy gets tons of cameos in films and anyone that has more than a dozen video games of himself is a legit icon. He even got himself a character on “The Simpsons”. Seriously I’m not even sure anyone else on this list has even accomplished that.
9. Fred Durst

The dude digs skateboarding. He may be hated for it a ton but the truth is he’s got nothing but love for skateboarding. There are videos of him up on the internet skateboarding. He may not be that greatest but you can tell he has fun with it.
Its even been said that Fred Durst was to be the director of “Lords of Dogtown” at one point in time. He can always be found rocking some of the skateboarding industries brands. Everything from Element hats to Circa gear. He even had Rob Dyrdek and various other skateboarders featured in one of his music videos. I remember it even getting the cover of one of the CCS magazines at the time.
8. Lil John

You saw him in Greg Lutzkas “United by Fate” part. And you saw that he was present at the Maloof Money Cup. Lil John is an avid skateboarder/snowboarder and is also great friends with a couple of fellow professional skateboarders in the industry. Lil John even has his own beverage called CRUNK juice. They happen to sponsor a lot of action sports athletes as well. He is stoked on skateboarding and his skate homies and that is “Okayyy” with me.
7. Christian Slater
It doesn’t matter what movie Christian Slater does he will forever and always be remembered in my mind as Brian Kelly from “Gleaming the Cube”. The movie alone inspired many of our top professional skateboarders to skateboard. It is a must see for any skateboarder out there. There was even a reference to the film in the Transworld video “FREE YOUR MIND”. When Tony Trujillo talks about the skate key!
6. Pancho Moler
Pancho Moler is Kevin from the more recent Bad News “Bears” movie. Yes that dude you thought looked awfully familiar was truly him. He has starred in tons of other movies and is actually a really good actor to. But Pancho is an amazing skateboarder and it bums me out that I haven’t seen any recent footage of him as of late. But seriously he is by far one of the gnarliest skateboarders on the planet. His size does absolutely nothing to hold him back from skateboarding like a regular person. Watch his videos and prepare to hit the rewind button various times. Make a comeback Pancho we need more!
5. Michael Pena

This one at the time was a complete surprise. It appears Michael Pena not only is down with skateboarding but can properly pull off a kickflip as well. He is better known for his roles in “Shooter”, “Babel”, “World trade Center”, Lions for Lambs”, and various other flicks. Peep his video at the Berrics were he reminisces with Steve Berra about old times.
4. Adam Sandler
Adam has always been seen wearing DC shoes and clothing. He is always rocking skateboarding shoes everywhere. I have heard that he has “attempted” to skateboard. Not sure how good he really is but the fact that he is into it is pretty rad. Check out the hiliarious video of him winning an award for “Big Daddy” at the MTV Movie Awards while rocking a bright yellow DC t-shirt.
3. David Spade

David Spade is a “skate rat” as he says so himself in various interviews. He is a skateboard enthusiast that once had an old job working in a skate shop before he hit the big time. That is pretty awesome if I must say so myself.
What jobs did you have before doing stand-up?
I worked as a clothing store clerk, a bus boy, a valet
parking attendant and in a skate shop. I’m a skate rat. I just bought a house with a pool and I’m going to empty it out so I can skate in it.
Check out “20 Questions” for David Spade back in ’97.
2. Dave Chapelle

Did you know Dave Chapelle loves skateboarding? Well he does and so do his kids. Its pretty rad to know that the dude that made “I’m Rick James Bitch” famous has skateboarded at Skatepark of Tampa. According to Dave his hobbies are “Playing video games and Skateboarding”. That is pretty dope Dave. Check the photo of him chilling with his family holding their decks. Does anyone know what kind of board he has? I can’t really tell.
1. Jason Lee

Jason Lee is the man. If anyone has truly made the transfer from Skateboarding to big time acting it is him. Not only that but he never left the lifestyle. He still runs Stereo and he still skateboards during his free time. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Best 360 flip of all time? I believe so! Jason has been featured in countless movies. He even made out with Jennifer Love Hewitt in Heartbreakers. He’s Dave in Alvin and the Chipmunks and he has his own television show called “My Name Is Earl”. And all this is barely touching the surface of all the things Jason Lee has done and been involved with in his acting career. He is big-time and it’s nice to know that he is still humble and never forgetting where a lot of his inspiration came from. I highly believe that in Blind’s “Video Days” you really start to see his first what I call “acting roles”. That whole famous phrase he says and just the way he always wanted to get up in front of the camera you could just tell he was destined for more than just skateboarding.
Sad to see this series go!
What no Owen Wilson wasn’t he sponsored by Girl at one point?
Owen Wilson is also a huge skateboarding fan. he has been known to stop by my local skateparks once in a while.
Actually in the Girl video “Yeah Right” the part showing Owen Wilson doing the handrail is Eric Koston who has similiar clothes to Wilson.
I thought he was really good too but then my roommate dropped the truth on me
What no Tom Green? Come On!
Dave Chappelle in that photo has an Enjoi, but the only people on this list that can actually skate are Jason Lee and Tony Hawk. By the way, Owen Wilson in the Girl video “Yeah Right” was actually just there because they thought it would be funny. Koston was the one that actually did the bluntslide, and Mike Myers was the one that was originally going to do what Wilson did, but they couldn’t find him. Owen Wilson is not a skateboarder in any sense.
shopped
actually you are all wrong. its ron jeremy
Jason Statham is pretty good skater to. I’ve read that in a magazine where he was interviewed.
it looks like chappel is hold a barak obama board
Picking Tony Hawk was cheating
Then there is Chris Brown

I love My Name is Earl!!
I knew lil jon was an open skateboarder, but they spelt his name wrong in this, also he has a skateboard/snowboard group called BME Click, i am pretty sure Ryan Sheckler appeared in that group also
i never knew that jason lee skateboarded
No he was just in the vid but he is one of them foreal skater celebs
you forgot Owen Wilson
