Any popular sport spawns slight variations. Skateboarding is no different.
And a simple YouTube search reveals the “sport” of Trampboarding. This complete skateboard spin-off contains a board void of wheels and trucks, and a rider using a trampoline to get the height required to perform specific tricks.
However, the first thing any YouTube trampboarding viewer will notice is a very high majority of these videos have the same theme; One kid by his lonesome, on a rusty, creaking old trampoline clearly placed in the backyard of some suburban or rural home.
Also, for whatever reason, a large portion of these backyards also seem to contain a woodshed of some sort. No word yet on whether a backyard woodshed is required for the sport of trampboarding, but it does seem to be a constant necessity.
There are some very sick tricks to be found, however, for obvious reasons. The bounce of a trampoline provides a lot more height than one achieves from the typical ollie… even if it is kind of a cop-out.
Our belief? Trampboarding is cool, the same way Slamball is cool… but that didn’t make it the same as basketball. We much prefer a complete skateboard, and that includes decks, wheels, trucks, bearings, and yeah, even skate clothing.
So when all you trampboarders decide you wanna pull some tricks off something other than the trampoline in your parents backyards, meet us by the park. We’ll be waiting.
Looking for new skateboard trucks but not looking to shell out much dough? This is your spot right here.
The crew from Go Skate Or Go Home have over thirty companies providing skateboard trucks. Not thirty different skateboard trucks, thirty different COMPANIES! That’s everything from Ace Skateboard Trucks to Venture Skateboard trucks.
Here’s what the crew at Go Skate Or Go Home had to say…
“Our skateboard trucks are factory direct and guaranteed for the life of your pet Ferret.”
Woah woah woah… a ferret has a natural lifespan of seven-to-ten years. That ain’t a bad investment at all.
“Haha, Ok, they are guaranteed a bit longer than that”
Even better.
“Anyways, all of our skateboard trucks have damn near the lowest price on the planet. I say “”damn near”" because there is no-way we can beat old “”Leon”" on the corner selling them out of his jacket. Dude, that guy has amazing deals. I got my car from him for like 5 dollars. I had to give it back to the rightful owner a week later…..but one week for 5 bucks ain’t bad!”
So there ya have it. Unless you’re getting your skateboard trucks straight from Leon-on-the-corner, you got no reason at all to get them anywhere other than Go Skate Or Go Home.
Skateboarding is sick and we know it. It’s not just the dope skateboard decks, the sweet clothing or the brutal mentality. Even the names of skateboard equipment are cool. And the skateboard trucks are the perfect example. Words “truck,” “screw,” “hanger,” “king pin,”… absolutely incredible.
How is it that every part of skateboarding is just so sick?
The longboard is pretty much a surfboard with wheels. Described by Go Skate Or Go Home as “the stretched Hummer Limo’s of skateboards,” the longboard is designed for transportation purposes. The preferred skateboard for downhill racers and slalom racers, longboards aren’t intended for tricks in the same way as a traditional skateboard, since they’re typically heavier and bulkier.
They also usually have larger, softer wheels than skateboards, allowing them to handle rocks, sticks, and other debris easily while also providing a smoother ride. Usually these wheels are designed to grip the road better as well, typically being made of a stronger urethane.
A longboard comes in a series of different shapes, includinging the Pintail, which is described as teardrop-shaped. There’s also Dropped Decks, with a lower middle of the deck. And of course there is the Cruiser Shape, which is somewhat similar to a regular skateboard, because it has a kicktail in the back.
However, the guys at Go Skate Or Go Home have another reason for cruisin’ on a longboard:
“What I do is I take it into stores, malls and school so all the chicks know “what’s up”. Yea, after a few minutes, they are whispering to each other “OMG, that guy’s board is SOOOOO BIG!”. It’s dope.”
On top of looking cool and riding smooth, any skater trying to get a complete skateboard collection needs to get their hands on these big ones.
