Getting a Skateboard for the First Time

When deciding on skateboards for sale, you actually have two options – buy a complete set (one that’s already pre-assembled) or you can piece together and design a custom skateboard that fits your preferences. There’s actually nothing wrong with buying a complete pre-assembled skateboard especially if you have no knowledge of building one on your own. But if you want to design to your specifications, there are tutorials that you can follow with detailed instructions on how to pick out the right fittings and parts for your skateboard. You can use the same instructions if you already have a skateboard and you would like to upgrade or replace some parts. If you’re buying a skateboard as a gift, make sure that you know how tall the skater is because there are different specifications for each height. You also need to consider what kind of skater he is (street, park, all terrain, vert or cruising).

Tic Tacking for Beginners

One of the most important skills to learn in doing tricks with skateboards is tic tacking. When you’re rolling it’s the best way to keep up your pace and speed and in cases when you don’t have the luxury of moving around, it’s the only way to speed up. Tic tacking allows you to increase your balance and comfort when you’re gliding. The basic trick in doing a tic tac is to move the nose of the skateboard from left to right and carving it against the surface in order to achieve optimal speed. The shifting momentum that you create by putting pressure behind your hips and pushing the board forward allows it to glide you further. When you’re tic tacking make sure to maintain your balance because the additional speed might be difficult for beginners. If you’re wobbling, you can change where you lean in order to get your weight centered in the right place.
