Getting your skateboard for the very first time can be a little confusing especially to beginners. There are tons of beautiful looking and excellently crafted skateboards for sale today and choosing can be a bit daunting. Do not rely too much on
information that salesclerks give you because they’re there to make a sale off of you. Here are some things that you should avoid when buying your first skateboard. If the board claims it’s strong, most probably it’s not flexible. The skateboard deck is composed of strips of wood pressed together, shaped, painted and polished. If a skateboard claims that it’s strong, it means that there are more strips pressed to build the deck thus making it less flexible. When it comes to wheels, never get those made from plastic or rubber because they won’t last long and will provide you with bad performance. If there’s a brand name on the board, check the manufacturer’s website for authenticity. There are tons of fakes out there and you should avoid them.
Although you’re not a pro, you’ll find that skateboarding can be easy to learn if you have the proper guide and knows how to follow instructions carefully. With constant practice with different types of skateboards you’ll be able to find the right one for you. Do at least an hour of skateboarding each day. If you’re an absolute beginner and you’ve never set foot on a skateboard before, there are ways to go about things especially when practicing. It’s not a smart thing to do tricks right away. When you’ve already found your balance on a skateboard, it is much easier to start doing some ollie tricks. Follow the steps in proper balancing and doing stances and you’re on your way to mastering other tricks and techniques
in skateboarding. Once you’ve mastered the basics it will be much easier to do more advanced moves and turns. Look for video guides as they are easier to follow.
If you’re not sure what to look for in a skateboard, this is actually one of the hardest parts to check. When checking out an extensive array of skateboards for sale, your eyes are actually glued to the designs of the deck and never the construction and the parts. Expert skateboarders know what to look for. And basically, they want to make sure that the deck is made of layers of wood pressed together and not just a single chunk of wood shaped like a skateboard. The edges should also be rounded and finely polished and well treated. Check the box of the skateboard and look for the “plys”. These are the strips of wood that are pressed together to make the skateboard deck. The industry standard is 7 plys of maple. The less plys there are, the board becomes weaker but they are more flexible and lighter. Avoid 9 ply boards because they are heavy and not flexible and may be difficult to use.
